They could vanish from sight, assume the faces of kings, or conjure phantom armies to rattle an enemy's resolve. Yet this power demanded a terrible price: every lie told to protect others eroded the Lightweaver's own sense of self. As they wove more falsehoods into the world, their bond with their Cryptic spren grew strained, for these beings thrive on truth even as they encourage deception. The greatest Lightweavers were those who could weave a thousand lies while holding fast to one unbreakable core of honesty.

The storm howled against the stone walls, but inside the chamber, the air hung still and heavy with anticipation. Shallan raised her hand, and the darkness didn't just break—it bloomed. A cascade of sapphire and gold light erupted from her palm, swirling like liquid before snapping into rigid form. There stood a perfect, glowing replica of a Highprince she had never met, his armor gleaming with an inner fire that seemed to warm the cold room. She whispered a command, and the construct's face rippled, shifting seamlessly into a different noble's visage before dissolving entirely. In seconds, the solid figure was gone, replaced by motes of light dancing on the wind like trapped stars, leaving only the echo of a miracle.

Illumination is the art of visualizing an object or form so intensely that Investiture obeys, turning thought into hard-light matter. To begin, a user must forge a Nahel bond with a Cryptic—a spren bound to paradox and truth. Once bonded, Stormlight acts as the fuel; the more light stored in gemstones within one's body, the larger or more complex the weave can be.

The process is purely mental: the weaver must hold an image in their mind with absolute clarity. To create a bridge of light, one does not merely imagine 'a bridge'; they visualize its texture, weight, and tensile strength until reality concedes to the vision. However, this power is fragile. If Stormlight runs dry, the construct collapses instantly into nothingness.

Perhaps the most profound aspect is Transformation—the ability to alter one's own appearance, voice, and even gender to blend in or escape danger. Yet, this comes with a psychological hazard. A Lightweaver who relies too heavily on masks may find their true face forgotten, lost beneath layers of borrowed identities. Their spren, drawn to the dissonance between word and deed, may become erratic or hostile if the user abandons fundamental truths. Mastery lies not in the perfection of the lie, but in the strength of the truth that anchors it.
